Executive Director: Deanna Relyea
Deanna Relyea founded Kerrytown Concert House in 1984, and has since been the KCH Executive and Artistic Director. She is a nationally respected musician and impressaria, with musical expertise that contributes to her management of the Concert House. Under her leadership, KCH has set high standards for quality of performances, variety and diversity of artists (established and emerging), and artist combinations and style.
A mezzo soprano, Ms. Relyea has a unique musical background. Early performance experience was as a solo pianist, as a member of a duo-piano team with her brother Gary Relyea, and as a vocal coach-accompanist. As a singer, she has performed the major oratorio works with Symphony Orchestras in the Great Lakes Region including the Ann Arbor, Plymouth, Grand Rapids, Toledo and Bowling Green. Ms. Relyea brings a special expressive quality and sense of style to both the concert and cabaret repertoire. She sings regularly with her brother, Canadian bass-baritone Gary Relyea, his son John, bass, and his wife Anna, soprano as a family ensemble--Voices-Relyea. They have appeared on concert series and festivals throughout Canada, including the Classical Cabaret Series and the Operetta Theatre Association in Toronto, the Elora Festival and the Durham Music Festival. Voices-Relyea appeared in March 1998 at the Chan Center in Vancouver as featured artists on the UBC Artist Series. As a soloist, Ms. Relyea's performances have aired on NPR stations across the country, the most recent being a performance of the songs of African American composer Florence Price.
