Described in Opera News in 2021 as “lithe-voiced”, tenor Camron Gray will be seen in 2023-24 season with Opera Idaho as an Emerging Artist featured in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Zach Redler’s The Falling and the Rising, and Martinez and Foglia’s Cruzar la Cara de la Luna. He was first seen in 2023 at the Colour of Music Festival 2023 (COMF) in Charleston, SC where he curated a vocal recital featuring works sung in Catalan, Italian and finished the program with American art songs.  He was then be seen in Blue at Washington National Opera as “Police Buddy #1” and in the 2023 summer festival season for Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (OTSL) in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, Puccini’s thrilling Tosca, and Treemonisha, reimagined by noted pianist, recording artist-composer-arranger Damien Sneed.  In 2022, Gray’s performances included L’elisir d’amore as “Nemorino” in Opera Huntsville’s inaugural season and with Seattle Opera in Blue as “Police Buddy #1.”  During the summer of 2022, he was a participant in Graz, Austria at the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) where he took German language courses, sang in several concert performances with the AIMS Festival Orchestra, as well as performing opera scenes in concert from various well-known works.  During his time at AIMS, he was a semi-finalist in the Meistersinger Vocal Competition 2022.

Mr. Gray is a graduate of the School of Music, Theatre & Dance at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (U-M) where he attained a Master Degree and Specialist Degree in Vocal Performance: Opera in 2018 and 2021, respectively.  Other accomplishments include being a recipient of the Shelly Manvel “Pocket Angel” Scholarship in 2022, district finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2018, and a finalist in the S. Livingston Mather Vocal Competition as an Albert Rees Davis Scholar in 2017.  He received his Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Tennessee Tech University in 2014.   A native of Winchester, TN, Gray was born and raised in the middle Tennessee Valley area where he enjoys delicious family meals, boisterous music of all genres, and a large, extended family who supports his goals of being a musician, educator, linguist and music & culture advocate.
