An evening of unexpected and inventive music with harpist/composer Maurice Draughn and pianist Tyler Driskill featuring the flavored stylings of jazz, broadway and gospel. Don’t miss this original Sunday night presentation in the House – a beautiful finish to your weekend.

Maurice Draughn, harp
Maurice Draughn, a native of Detroit, is an experienced and versatile musician. He is currently a
freelance harpist performing with several orchestras and ensembles throughout Southeastern
Michigan and Western Ontario including the Detroit Symphony and Detroit Opera Orchestras.
From the concert stage to the commercial studio, Maurice regularly performs various genres of
music including jazz, neo-soul and gospel and has recorded with notable artists from each
respective genre. As an arranger and composer of music for harp and chorus, Maurice regularly
receives commissions further expanding the harp canon and choral repertory.
Maurice began his harp studies at Cass Technical High School with Patricia Terry-Ross. He earned
a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from Wayne State University. Maurice completed two
summers of study with Lucile Lawrence at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute. He later
earned a Master of Church Music with a concentration in Harp Performance from Southern
Seminary where he studied harp with Elaine Cook and Laura Byrne.
Tyler Driskill, piano
TYLER DRISKILL is an assistant professor of music in the Department of Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan’s SMTD. Having served nearly 20 years as a collaborative pianist for the U-M Departments of Musical Theatre and Dance, Tyler has enjoyed an extensive career as a music director, conductor, arranger, vocal coach, and educator. Recent music direction credits include Sophisticated Ladies (assoc. MD) and Hair for the University of Michigan (Linda Goodrich and Justin Keyes, directors) and Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Always Patsy Cline, and Mamma Mia for the Encore Musical Theatre Company. As music director for the perennial favorites, Wine, Women & Song and the Valentine’s Day Cabaret, Tyler is a Kerrytown Concert House regular and recently presented tribute concerts to Barbra Streisand and Peggy Lee with Broadway artist and fellow U-M MT faculty member, Chelsea Packard. Additional music direction credits include Sweet Charity (Mark Madama, dir.) for the University of Michigan, and, for the Encore Musical Theatre Company, FUN HOME (Vincent J. Cardinal, dir.), Brigadoon (Wilde Award nomination for Best Music Direction), West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Assassins (Wilde Award for Best Music Direction), Into the Woods (Wilde Award for Best Music Direction), My Fair Lady (Tony Walton, dir.), Into the Wild (Developmental Premiere, Mia Walker, dir.), Sondheim on Sondheim, and An Evening with Jeremy Jordan. Tyler has performed with jazz vocalist Brad McNett at the Metropolitan Room in New York City.
