Jazz Revisited: A Centennial Celebration of Radio Legend Hazen Schumacher
Kerrytown Concert House celebrates the life and legacy of Hazen Schumacher, the Ann Arbor legend whose beloved radio program Jazz Revisited introduced generations of listeners to the golden age of jazz. Launched in 1967 from the studios of WUOM-FM, Schumacher’s show spotlighted classic recordings from 1917 to 1947. It grew into a national phenomenon, eventually reaching more than 200 NPR stations and airing 1,500 episodes over 30+ years.
The centennial tribute pairs live music from Pete Siers & the Kerrytown Stompers – Siers counts Schumacher among his own mentors – with curated audio excerpts from the original broadcasts, weaving Schumacher’s storytelling voice directly into an evening of the vintage jazz he championed.
Don’t miss this special evening honoring a Michigan Radio icon, celebrated by the very musicians he inspired!
