Passing the Torch: Wendell Harrison & Trunino Lowe

October 17, 2021 @ 7:30 pm

MASTER SAXOPHONIST/CLARINETIST, WENDELL HARRISON AND UP-AND-COMING TRUMPETER, TRUNINO LOWE

Kerrytown Concert House kicks off its community mentorship project connecting area master musicians with young, promising artists for a series of performances, mentorship conversations, and educational outreach. The inaugural concert pairs legendary saxophonist/clarinetist and Kresge Eminent Artist, Wendell Harrison, with outstanding, young trumpeter, Trunino Lowe.  In addition to being a founder of Tribe Records and playing alongside musicians like Marvin Gaye, Sun Ra, and Aretha Franklin, Harrison is a passionate advocate of community mentorship, education, and engagement.  He and Lowe will perform their own original compositions, shed light on their respective careers, and discuss the deep significance of intergenerational relationships in music.

The Passing the Torch series is made possible with support from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation.
