Ellen Rowe’s popular series returns to the House with special guest guitarist Randy Napoleon to pay tribute to the great jazz pianist Oscar Peterson. For this month's trio, Ellen is joined by bassist, Rob Bickley, and drummer, Sean Dobbins. Together, the ensemble will play selections from Peterson's beloved Canadiana Suite, a celebration of his Canadian homeland. Pieces will include "Wheatland", "Blues of the Prairie", "Laurentide Waltz" and "March Past".

Noted for his “jaw dropping display of improvisational power” (All About Jazz), pianist and composer Michael Malis appears at KCH in a rare solo recital. He’ll present original compositions, which range from the spacious and lush to the unpredictable and raucous. Still, he stays conversant with his musical ancestors, drawing on repertoire from composers such as Sun Ra, Thelonious Monk, Alice Coltrane, and others, to create a rich and diverse program that looks forward, backward, and center.

KCH is proud to continue what has become an annual Mother’s Day tradition with jazz pianist Ellen Rowe! This year, she welcomes award-winning Southeastern Michigan jazz vocalist Emma Aboukasm and Marion Hayden – stellar bassist and icon of the Detroit music scene. Area favorite and Detroit’s nine-time award-winning swing band, Planet D Nonet, celebrates its new recording in tribute to the great maestro, Duke Ellington.

Veteran bebop and swing bassist Lynn Seaton travels to Ann Arbor this June to form a swinging trio with area jazz masters Ellen Rowe (piano) and Pete Siers (drums)! Seaton will lead the trio with a set of their favorite standards from the jazz and Tin Pan Alley songbooks for what is sure to be a fantastic collaboration of three much-sought-after artists of today’s jazz scene.

The Midwest Swing Set reunites Michigan's own rhythm section of bassist Paul Keller and drummer Pete Siers with Chicago musicians, vocalist Petra van Nuis and guitarist Andy Brown.

Courageous lion of a bass player, Paul Keller, and vibraphone wizard Cary Kocher co-lead their jazz quintet featuring the impressive and considerable skills of vocalist/clarinetist Sarah D'Angelo, pianist Adam Mosley and guitarist Ralph Tope. Keller and crew will celebrate the music of The Wizard of Oz, highlighting well-known tunes by Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg, alongside additional music they've recently recorded for three new albums! Pay no mind to the man behind the vibes!
