Kerrytown Concert House extends an enthusiastic “Welcome Back!” to jazz pianist Ellen Rowe’s popular KCH series, All About the Trio! The trio’s 23/24 inaugural season performance brings us A Tribute to the Duke, in which the trio (this time with drummer Sean Dobbins) will explore the music of Duke Ellington, analyzing pieces composed by or made famous by him and his band, including favorites such as Take The A Train, In A Mellow Tone and Squatty Roo.

Piano jazz master Terry Lower returns to the House with Paul Keller (bass) and Pete Siers (drums) for what is sure to be another outstanding piano jazz trio collaboration! Inspired by Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander and Art Tatum, Terry is a virtuoso jazz pianist with his own sound, who leads this jazz configuration with impressive instrumental prowess and artistic interpretation. Adding to their usual fare of jazz standards and tunes from the Great American Songbook, Lower, Keller and Siers will also borrow songs from old classic movies and films, including ‘Top Hat’ (Fred Astaire-1934), and ‘A Day At The Races’ (Marx Brothers-1937). Ellen Rowe’s All About the Trio returns to the House for its annual holiday set and brings with them vibraphonist Cary Kocher to help swing in the holiday season with new takes on old chestnuts. Pieces will pay tribute to the Modern Jazz Quartet, Bill Evans, George Shearing, Cal Tjader and others. Join us for a festive afternoon of holiday jazz with some of the area’s favorite musicians!

KCH is thrilled to welcome internationally celebrated jazz musicians Tierney Sutton (vocals) and Tamir Hendelman (piano)! The Sutton/Hendelman musical duo relationship goes back more than 20 years.

Pianist, Alyssa Smith presents a concert of through-composed, semi-through-composed, and completely improvised solo piano pieces. Weaving classical styles such as Romanticism, Impressionism, and Contemporary with inspiration from artists such as Bill Evans and Chick Corea, Alyssa creates a unique blend of styles and an approach to the piano guided by a simple and pure love of the instrument. Alyssa seeks to encapsulate the universal experiences we all share, focusing on the ways we can find humor and beauty in these moments through the unique lens of extemporaneous music.

Internationally renowned melodic swing tenor saxophone master Harry Allen returns to Kerrytown Concert House to reunite with a Midwest all-star rhythm section featuring acclaimed guitarist Andy Brown from Chicago with Michigan’s own Paul Keller and Pete Siers, two of the finest rhythm section players on today’s jazz scene. Together, they celebrate their renditions of Great American Songbook standards, jazz compositions and Brazilian classics they’ve evolved through their annual quartet meetings at the House.

Kerrytown Concert House welcomes Third Coast Swing back to the House for a second performance this season - this time with the sensational jazz violinist, Grant Flick!

These fantastic musicians will explore the music of violinist Stéphane Grappelli from the music of Django Reinhardt and the Hot Club of France, to Dave Grissman, Martin Taylor and Barney Kessel.

Paul Keller is back for another House call, this time with venerable Washington DC vibraphonist and drummer Chuck Redd! Redd will lead a trio of local jazz greats (Adam Mosely, piano; Randy Napoleon, guitar; and Paul Keller, bass) in a program of jazz standards and Great American Songbook–based improvisations ranging from swing to bop to bossa nova.

The black and white keys of the piano sound beautiful when played with love, and few people truly love the piano as much as jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie pianist Mark Lincoln Braun, who will be performing his annual “Mr. B’s Birthday Bounce” at KCH in a collaboration with drummer Pete Siers!
