Monica Swartout-Bebow, mezzo soprano and current artistic & executive director of Kerrytown Concert House is honored to join this evening’s program to celebrate KCH Founder and longtime performing colleague and friend, Deanna Relyea! Prior to her current position here at KCH, Monica sang professionally in a broad scope of genres from opera roles with regional and national companies (Chautauqua, Dayton, Toledo Operas), to solo appearances with orchestras in the U.S. and overseas (Ann Arbor Symphony, Plymouth Oratorio Society, Brevard Orchestra, AIMS in Graz, Austria), to gigs at jazz, cabaret and folk venues throughout the Midwest (Davenport’s in Chicago; DIA, The Ark, & KCH in Michigan; Franciscan Center & Toledo Art Museum in Ohio). Also a seasoned voice teacher, Monica held a long-term teaching appointment at Eastern Michigan University and maintained a private voice studio in the Ann Arbor area for over two decades. A Michigan native, Monica holds a master’s degree with highest honors in voice performance from the University of Michigan where she continues to build artistic connections with students and faculty. Now, in her fifth year as KCH director, Monica brings the breadth of nearly three decades of experience as a performing artist, teacher and businesswoman to the job, believing passionately that Kerrytown Concert House brings live performance to artists and music lovers in an up-close and personal way that is like no other in Ann Arbor. She is especially grateful for the support of her husband John and daughter Delaney.
