Nancy Wolfe is a studio artist and educator, and has exhibiting since 1994. She has been an instructor for Eastern Michigan University, Wayne State University, and Washtenaw Community College. She currently teaches at Hannan Center for Seniors in Detroit. She loves poetry, and started writing many years ago, which she continues to do.
“My paintings are my visual connection to poetry. Instead of Words, there are shapes with color: in a relationship, in search of transparency, in search of connection, an introspective view. My work is formed by my intuitive nature. I work toward transparency by adding layers of paint on, or rubbing paint off to reveal that which came before. At the beginning, I take the lead, and then the painting leads me.”
